2. How Much Weight You Lost
Dropping 5 kg or 25 kg doesn’t earn extra credit. A large weight loss usually reflects how far you started from stage condition, not that you “prepped harder.” Conditioning and muscle symmetry on the day is what counts.
3. Your Calorie Intake
Whether you’re on 3,000 calories or 1,500, the judging panel doesn’t know, and doesn’t care. Genetics, activity level, and dieting history all influence how much food an athlete can maintain leanness on. More food or less cardio isn’t rewarded in itself; only the outcome matters.
4. How Much You Lift
Strength training is essential for building muscle, but judges don’t check your workout log. Two athletes can present equally muscular physiques despite very different strength levels. Stage judging is based on muscle size, symmetry, and conditioning, not your deadlift PR.
5. How Easy or Hard Prep Was
Everyone’s prep looks different. Some glide through with minimal hunger, others feel drained for months. Prep difficulty is personal and influenced by countless factors: metabolism, stress, starting condition. But on stage, effort isn’t a judging criterion. The only thing that matters is the final package.
